10:38 pm - Holiday Spirit
I'll come back to edit this later but in the meantime, Christmas in the Big Apple means peppermint mochas at Starbucks, Godiva chocolates with big red ribbons, and countless cheesecake recipes in the mail. This season is ubberly tasty!

10:29 pm - Change of the weather
It's finally cold in New York after a mild November and a few days that were so warm that I didn't even need a jacket after stepping outside. But now it has offically dropped down to 30 F at night, which only makes it more satisfying to snuggle under a puffy down blanket at night. Read more )

10:52 am - Mullings
I think inside most fan fic writers there is at least one Mary Sue waiting to get out. The smart ones avoid them all together because it's tough-as-nails making an interesting character and sticking him or her into your favorite book, movie, or film so that everyone else will actually read it.

A fan fiction writer named SarahBelle made a comment:

"And if there really were so many confused young modern women dropping into Middle Earth every day of the week, they could have started up a slave trade."

09:07 pm - Ganache, Ganache, Ganache
I can't stand the thought of throwing away kitchen-baked cookies, a cake, or any yummy confections that taste perfectly fine even if they're an eyesore and won't sit on Donald Trump's table. (Yaaay, that means more for us!) So when my peanut butter and chocolate cake *plopped* out of the pan in a messy heap instead of a flawless 9 inch circle, there was only one thing to do.

08:44 pm - Inglorious Bastards
I enjoyed Uma Thurman's performance in "Kill Bill" where she ran around bumping off her enemies and looking like a deadly skinny banana with a sword. My friend told me, "You *must* see Inglorious Bastards" and I listened.

Quentin Tarantino's films have a unique style of their own by mixing Western into revenge fantasies. I walked about of "IB" with my teeth still rattling from an adrenaline rush. It's gleefuly unapologizing in all of the blood-spurting glory.

At least it had a happy ending.

Certain obsessions change from year to year (fan fiction, music videos, broadway shows) depending on what's accesible. But my #1 obession is READING. You can never have enough books and I strongly believe that it exercizes the mind.

Barnes and Noble is selling classic stories from Jane Eyre to the complete Sherlock Holmes in colorful leather bound books. I'm imagining how beautiful these will look in the library and best of all, a generous collection means at least one person should find something that he or she likes to read!
